well…i think osCommerce is really lagging behind lately. New ecommerce solutions constantly appear on the market which are much better developed. Magento is on it’s hype right now.

And it’s easier to move to magento from some other platform now. There’s web service cart2cart which automates migration to magento from other shopping carts.

Much fuss around magento lately. Many people are eager to pay money for quality. Thus many abandon their shopping carts and go for magento.

If you face the same problem but don’t want to waste a lot of time you may try online service cart2cart. It will automate data transfer to magento http://www.shopping-cart-migration.com Good luck!

Thanks for the useful article! We are currently debating between osCommerce and Magento for an online shop we want to set-up, and the only thing stopping us from Magento is the server requirements. Dedicated hosting for each shop can get quite expensive, and osCommerce is much more cost-effective in that regard. But we shall see. We certainly hope that a newer version of osCommerce will emerge with a better and more user-friendly admin.

Nevertheless, Magento has become extremely popular e-commerce platform. Online merchants more and more frequently prefer magento to other shopping carts.
If you also want to join them and switch to magento you may take a look at cart2cart online service. It automates data migration fm your shopping cart to magento
