As much as we hate to admit it, our pet dogs can definitely behave badly at times. Thus, there is a need to incorporate dog behaviour training as much as possible.
When should you consider dog behaviour training?
The first thing you have to do is, of course, observe how your dog behaves. Is your dog barking all night long? Is he keeping your family and your neighbors up all night? Are you getting more and more suspicious of your dog’s potential to bite? Is your dog becoming considerably violent? If your answer to all these questions is a resounding Yes, then you should consider undergoing dog behaviour training.
What comprises dog behaviour training?
There are actually a lot of methods that you can consider for your dog, should you want him to undergo behaviour training. For constant barking, for instance, you can sue special collars that produce tiny spikes of electricity. This teaches your dog to stop barking, since with barking comes the unpleasant electric shock. However, you should still consult the professionals since you would not want to be inhumane to your own pet, right?
How does dog behaviour training keep your dog from biting?
When dogs gnaw and nip at your hand, this does not really mean he is out to bite your hand. He could just be playful at the time. However, to enforce playful behaviors so that biting can be avoided, you should train your dog. Stroke his head while you offer him another toy that he can bite on, such as a chew toy. Repeat this process so that your dog can learn that biting is a definite no-no.
